Was looking at buying a desk and saw the affirm logo. Went through the process because they say they can provide an estimated monthly cost with a couple questions.
They explicitly say that it WILL NOT effect your credit score or get reported to any agency.
I stopped going through the questions as soon as they asked me to login with my bank information. It wasn't worth it to me to even try using affirm at that point. I'm not giving such sensitive information away that easily.
So I never completed the process.
A couple hours later I receive a long letter. In the first paragraph it that tells me the bank couldn't "approve the loan you requested." The rest of the letter is my credit score and a list of reasons why I wasn't *approved*
My credit score has been great and that's because I avoid hard inquiries.
This is certainly going to bring my score down, as any hard inquiry would do.
It's unacceptable that Affirm did this without my consent. What a bunch of BS.
So make sure you're okay with a credit check that WILL show up on your credit report before using Affirm.
User's recommendation: Don't do it.
Preferred solution: Apology.
Affirm Cons: Awful customer service, Terrible interest rates.
