Affirm Denied Dispute Despite Clear Evidence and Merchant Misconduct

I am writing this after Affirm denied my dispute, appeal, and ignored multiple follow-up attempts despite extensive documentation showing clear merchant misconduct.

The dispute involved a purchase from TheRetroSnap made using Shop Pay installments through Affirm. I paid extra for expedited processing with an advertised 49 day delivery guarantee.

That guarantee was missed by several weeks. Furthermore, the product shipped from China despite being advertised as a product shipped from Canada and the US.

Although the merchant marked the order as shipped shortly after purchase, carrier tracking showed it was still waiting for information, meaning the item had not entered physical transit. After the guaranteed delivery window expired, I submitted a formal cancellation request before the item was ever shipped. That request was ignored for over a week and then refused.

The item did not actually ship until after I opened a dispute with Affirm and arrived nearly a month after the original order date.

My dispute was not about non-delivery.

It was about:

* A missed delivery guarantee

* A refusal to cancel an order that had not shipped

* A merchant who delayed shipment until after a dispute was opened

* Misleading advertising

Affirm denied the dispute solely on the basis that the item was eventually received, without addressing the documented timeline or the cancellation attempt.

I provided extensive evidence, including:

* Proof of the guaranteed delivery window

* Carrier tracking showing no shipment during that window

* Written cancellation attempts made before shipment

* Documentation showing shipment occurred only after the dispute began

None of this was meaningfully addressed in Affirms decision.

After my dispute and appeal were denied, I attempted to resolve the issue directly with Affirm Customer Care multiple times before posting any public reviews. Those attempts resulted in either no response at all or generic, templated replies that did not address the substance of my case.

When I later posted a public review, Affirms only response was to redirect me back to their Customer Care email...the same place that had already failed to provide a meaningful response. No new review of the evidence was offered, and no effort was made to actually resolve the issue.

Since then, I have learned that other customers affected by the same merchant were able to successfully dispute similar transactions through their banks or payment providers, in some cases after being advised to do so by those institutions. Affirm refused to take comparable action.

I ultimately paid off the remaining balance only so I could close my account and disengage from Affirm entirely.

This experience raises serious concerns about Affirms dispute investigation process and their handling of public complaints.

Redirecting customers back to unresponsive or ineffective support channels is not a resolution. Based on my experience, consumers should not assume Affirm will fairly evaluate disputes even when clear documentation exists.

Amazon order

Im pissed because they took so long to pay for my Amazon order ,Amazon put all my things back .So after they put it back then they decide to pay .I had to find the things I ordered and pay another way .Now Affirm exspects me to pay them back for product I never recieved .And they will not talk to Amazon about this problem .Tha ks Annette

Horrible refund process

Customer service even told me that they had to void the refund check they originally issued and send me another, delaying the receipt of my refund even further. Absolutely horrendous.

By far the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I returned an item that I finished paying for with an Affirm loan, but Affirm told me they could not electronically issue the refund to my bank account and that they would instead have to mail me a paper check which could take up to 30 BUSINESS DAYS to arrive, which makes no sense because no domestic mail takes 30 days to reach its destination (not to mention that mail doesn't stop on Saturdays, a non-business day).

And, of course, the paper check runs the risk of being lost or stolen along the way. What a joke.

Amazon said they refunded me; they didn't. Affirm said they will refund me as soon as Amazon indicated I sent them back.

I sent photos of the returns; nothing. Affirm is still billing me.

I returned those chairs in January 2025. I hate them like poison.

Do you think I'm dumb? Two months ago, I returned $137.78 for something on May 9. Walmart refunded me 0.01. Okay, what happened to the rest of the money?

Do you want me to explain that money to you? My answer is no because I called Walmart, and they refuse to fix it. I am a poor woman; I'm not crazy. Okay, help me please with Walmart to fix it.

Will NOT process my refund

Have tried for 3 mths (last time today) by chat, online email, telephone to get AFFIRM to process my refund of $192.00 (to my AM EX) for shoes returned to SAS. I have a confirmation letter of the return and need for credit, but AFFIRM blames it on Am EX for not processing it.

Am Ex tells me they have no such letter from AFFIRM.

AFFIRM refuses to send it again. I find this company and their agents to be well trained on giving excuses to consumers and think they are cheats and thieves.
